Hey Tracy,

Sorry to hear things are not improving with your in laws but I think that there are some very tradition folks out there that can not get past their orthadox beliefs to accept wives/husbands of another culture. As long as you're happy with your husband I guess we can not ask for more. I find my hubby talks around things like yours while I too like the issue out in the open... And we're in Australia by the way!

So you've learned Indian cooking, that is great news... Its so very different to our own foods isnt it? Hard too in its own way... I was concerned at the amount of oil that went into most dishes, and the spices mmmmmm they do smell yummy... I am still trying to work out how to not make the house smell like Sultans Kitchen for the next few days though. HA HA HA... You can smell the spices before you enter the house!

Thanks for asking after the baby, we had a girl late last year but she was stillborn... We named her Ishani. My in-laws couldn't have been less caring and my mother in law used it as a chance to 'twist the knife' but again nothing could detract from the happy melencholly we felt due to her entrering our lives. Whats the old saying? It's a long way to happiness? Well we've started the walk and although the horizon isnt any closer we are on that road.

Tracy I guess having been through the same as you and then this I have had a good chance to think on things. And my findings are more than negative in many ways, I can't even say such parents are this way from misguided love... Some people are just really loathesome people no matter their race. happiness is something we can only find for ourselves and we must protect that and our little world. Guard that which you love and leave the rest! You'll hurt yourself long term and I am sure you'll agree that it is an anxiety that you dont need... Sending many warm wishes.

Should a single man live with his mum in India?
I am a man in my late 40s and I have lived abroad in USA for the past two decades. I never had any interest in marrying or having kids so I never married. Recently my Dad passed away and my mother will be alone. I have made enough money to retire comfortably but because I am used to the American lifestyle I can't live in India. Recently my relatives have started saying tha... - Venkat Dabri [View Message]
