Breastfeeding:Baby doesnt latch on.... pls help

My baby is 11 days old and he has difficulty in latching on.... have been trying different positions but no help..... I think I hv flat nipples... could that be the reason? Please I need urgent help.... any tips? Its driving me crazy to see him cry.

I had the same problem...but I used the breast pump bec. I was adamant to feed my baby..bec. of all the health benefits...I strongly recommend u go to medelapumpreview123.blogspot..this place was suggested by someone in one of the boards...and is great for people who have never breastfed...or people who have breast fed and have been having problems..hope this helps u

Don' t worry even I faced a similar prob so what I tried was tied thread around my nipples whole day long and remove them only while feeding ... it works believe me !!

Hi Sonali,

I had similar problem for nearly 15 days. My baby was not able to latch on to my right breast. I was feeding her mostly on my left breast. It takes 15-20 days atleast. Don' t worry and Don' t give up. Keep trying. This happens to everybody.

According to my gyno, I have some special hormones due to which i can easily lactate and due to that my motherly instincts are extremely high. I was lactating until 1 yr back & I still can induce if i want to breastfeed anyone.
