Hi,
I have a 16 month old baby girl. She started walking when she was around 10 months old.. But, the problem is, she doesn' t seem to have got the balancing act right !She started running even before she could balance herself properly.. and now, she runs as if in a marathon, but keeps falling down so often.. I am scared she might hurt her head, as she sometimes falls on her back, and her head hits the floor.. Its too scary, and, i seriously think of buying her a helmet !! It' s hard to match pace with hers ,and, it' s tough to make her sit in a place for more than 10 seconds.. She keeps tearing magazine pages, throws the utensils around , munches shoes and loves to pull people' s hair, opens the racks and likes to throw everything she can lay her hands on, climbs on the dining table using the chair, and tries to jump from there, and I have to run behind her every minute and catch her every time she jumps from the table/falls from the chair.. Everyone i know feels i should be happy to have such an active kid.. But, i really get tired ! She' s okay in other aspects.. She takes any food given to her, without complaining, speaks a lot of words and understands and responds to anything said to her...
Here are some of my queries..
a) How do I make her balance herself while running around, basically reduce the number of injuries she has ?
b) How do I make her understand not to go to total strangers? (She jumps into the arms of anyone who offers her a cookie)
c) How do I make her understand that jumping from high tables and cots would hurt her (She' s hurt herself lots of times, but, still seems to enjoy.. and goes 1-2-3- jump !)
d)How do I make her sleep throughout the night (I stopped feeding her, but, she drinks from bottle 3-4 times in the night, which comes to around 700 ml of milk.. Tried giving her water instead, but, she starts crying).
