hello all,

My daughter is 4 months old and i give her 3-4 feeds of formula ( as only my milk is not filling her needs) and rest BF.But lately she has been constipating.Can anybody help me out in this.What can i do to avoid constipation.She is not fed anything other than BF and lactogen

kids your daughter' s age can pass stool at times from once a day to once in two-three days and that is perfectly normal.

The concern should be about the quality of stool. the stool should be liquidy like mustardy paste. if it is hard then surely it is matter of concern and you need to consult a paed.

Try and increase BF as much as you can and avoid formula. BF has all the necessary ingredients your child needs at this stage. The marketing co' s of formula can never substitute the nutrients in the formula milk found in BF.

Rupali. salome replied. hi my baby is 5 months old. she has been formula fed exclusively from 2 months and was constantly constipated. i used to give here some warm water and this used to help a lop. gripe water also helps especially woodwards sush replied. are you giving formula on the advice of a ped?if not,it might not be necessary.increase the no of breastfeeds and your supply will also increase.formula must be causing constipation to your baby. Sunitha replied. If the baby is taking all the feedings she is suposed to take, then don' t worry. If the baby is not feeling much hungry cause of constipation. Try these

1. Give Grape Water to the baby 2 or 3 times in a day.
2. Check with the doctor and give Prune juice to the baby.

if u r baby is passing stools alternate days does not mean she is constipating.it is normal for babies which r older. its only if she is experiencing problem while passing stool thn its a concern. may be she requires sum changs in her diet , ask u r doctor.he might suggest u to give sum fruit juice to u r baby.
