Dear MumbaiKar #1

There are whole lot of tests they do in pregnancy. Each trimester some that's how they are distributed.
In first trimester around week 11 to week 13 they will take a lot of blood to know all immunological tests, sexually transmitted disease and some additional tests confined to region where you located.

Prior to this when you make call to your OB he/she would have done a small blood work to know hCG and progesterone levels to assure pregnancy is looking normal.

You may have had first trimester ultrasound to see pregnancy indeed is uterine and that heartbeats are normal.

In second trimester you blood work includes mainly AFP test and this to determine neural tube defect and downs syndrome possibility.

Towards the end of this trimester you will also be offered a blood test to know whether or not you have gestational diabetes.

Around week 20 (in your 5th month) youwill be offered ab obstetric ultrasound. This is a level 2 ultrasound to see all details of developing baby. You will get to see your baby in action and if wanted then sex of baby.

In third trimester, once again they will do blood work to know quality of blood and immunological complex. there will be GBS test vaginal swab.

In this last trimester around week 34-week 37 youwill be offered an ultrasound to know placenta position/function and estimate baby weight at the time of birth. This time you will know whether your baby is running any risk of IUGR.

If you cross given date then another ultrasound may be offered or direct induction or C-section.
