Hey Ashra, I am from the Nov board and I just wanted to congratulate you on getting through your GD test successfully. Good job

Also, Here are some tips to get more Iron via your diet from the FDA website (so the info is pretty legitimate).

Good sources of iron include red meat, pulses, bread, green vegetables and fortified breakfast cereals. Try to have some food or drink containing vitamin C, such as a glass of fruit juice, at the same time as an iron-rich meal, because this will help your body absorb the iron.

If you are a non-vegetarian - Although liver contains lots of iron, you should avoid eating it while you’re pregnant because it contains high levels of vitamin A, which could harm your baby if you have too much.

Eat lots and lots of Spinach much like Popeye does (this is my own input : )

Take Care

Ashra,

Hi!! I am from the Nov board but here's some stuff that might help.
1, Calcium and tannins (found in tea and coffee) reduce iron absorption. Tea, coffee, and calcium supplements should be used several hours before a meal which is high in iron.

2,Iron absorption is increased markedly by eating foods containing vitamin C along with foods containing iron.

3,Dried beans and dark leafy green vegetables are especially good sources of iron. watermelon is an excellent source as well. (you can combine fresh watermelon and orange juice.. a great source of easily absorbed iron).

Good luck!!

The above tips are of course in addition to the iron supplements. (Talk to your pharmacist about which supplement will be best for you.)
