Health Concerns:Need advice

Name: Jayant

hi
I wish to seek your advice on the problem faced by my wife who is in her 5th month of pregnancy. She is taking Insulin as she had developed sugar problem which is well under control now. She visited a gynaecologist who upon examining her with a Doppler machine told that the baby has not come upward much as baby's heartbeat has been heard at a lower position (just 2 inches below the navel hole). Now she has advised her bed rest with elevated bed at 15 degrees for 10 days so that baby come up.
Would this be helpful?

Since my wife is showing less growth in her abdomen (which we felt), the gynae told her to take Pro-PL powder with milk. She has been feeling some pain in her abdomen for which she prescribed Duvidilan-R for 15 days. How much is the growth at 5th month of pregnancy?

As gynae told her for Urine-Routine and Culture tests, the report of Routine test showed few bacteria. Is this because of sugar problem or some other problem? She has been taking hygienic diet and aquaguard filtered water. Why such bacteria's have developed, will they harm the mother or baby and how best can they be cured?

Dear Jayant,
Seems you have plenty of concern. I would strongly recommend a second opinion on all observations if possible.

Growth is loose term, can't explain in all detail. Have you been through her 20 week ultrasound? What is out come? Tell us then we could help make strong comment.

If she is having normal baby movements and normal ultrasound then unlikely there is problem.

About adbominal pain, it's her uterus that's stretching and some muscles around. This can go from hip to groin and in lower abdomen. This is called Round ligaments, if she is facing these then she need no prescription. It's normal part of pregnancy. But I don't know what her Dr. gave and why? Its important that you pose questions to her Dr. as you have to know what's happening inside and what therapy.

Sleeping is good idea. But usually she should get her baby moving upward the naval. At the 20 week baby position can be around Naval zone. Each week pregnancy baby position goes upward by 1cm, due to expanding uterus in upward position.

If she is having trouble to move upward then likely she has some trouble with placenta position, ask her Dr. if this is the case. That would need another set of care.

About bacteria, they can come from any source. Hygine is difficult to conclude. Ask her to empty bladder as frequent as possible. If her baby is largely down then she will go frequent urination and she need to wipe after urination using tissue. Tilt herself forward to empty bladder. Keep area around vagina as clean as possible. NO synthetic tissue, no synthetic scents, or chemical/creams should applied. Clean with normal water and maximum with regular soap.

Yes, infection can be treated 100%. She must be careful not getting infection. She has long way to go and more care to take with all concerns you mentioned.

Try to speak to her Dr. or take second opinion.
Demand a Level 2 ultrasound and have all parts of baby evaluated, including position this speaks much more than visual impact.

Hope this helps.
Archie
