I really need your expert advice Hetal.

My baby is 21 days old. Initially he was completely formula fed and refused to even accept my breast. Slowly but gradually he has learnt to latch on well and is now around 40 breast fed and 60 on formula. Initial 1st two weeks he would have 7-8 feeds of formula and now in the third week he has about 4-5 feeds of formula and the rest BM

I gradually want to stop formula until he is 6-7 months old. However i am finding it difficult to do so right now. He tends to suck for about 10 mts max. and then starts getting very restless. He keeps chewing my nipple and in the process when the nipple comes out he gets very desperate and keeps looking for it hungrily. He will continue doing this and then gets very impatient as he is not able to drink peacefully. I cannot even think of pacifying him at this stage coz he is too hungry and then starts crying. And then i resort to the dreaded F option (formula -) At times i just tolerate his behaviour and because of this feeding time is anywhere between an hour to one and half hours!....

Please could you tell me what could i do to make feeding a less frustrating activity for both of us.

I am wondering if there is enough milk? or could it be that there is milk but the flow is not enough?

Pls help me immediately.

Rupali Desai sukanya replied. hi Rupai,dnt worry,my baby is45 days old,i also faced the same prob during initial stages.have patince it takes time dont give up..keep feeding u r baby evry half an hour tp practice him.intial week when u do this it is very painfull ..but gradually ur baby will learn and then bfeeding wll be an nice expirence.i suceeded only after30days of hard try..remember bmis the best for babies. if u thnk u dont have enough milk..u can give couple of f-milk as supllemnt to u r bm ..there is no harm..ALl the Best.
