Routine Tests:Ultrasound at diffrent place - Is that common?

Hi Archie and all,
I am sure you know me, I am doing alright. I am keeping the activity level as low as possible.
I have question about the ultrasound less than 14 weeks. My doctor asks me to go to different place (Radiologist) after 7 week. I got an appointment for that. She said they will check the heart bit and send the report to the Doc. My doc said they do not do ultrasound at their office. Naturally she is not going be with me during the Ultrasound.
My question is Is it common to go to different place for Ultrasound? Or some doctors do it in their office? I am told not drink water or use restroom about an hour before the appointment.
Is there anything I should keep in mind?

Thanks in advanced....

Hi,
Guess that am late in replying coz i don't know which month you have posted your question. You must have had your test by now. If not, am not sure..............but i cud just tell you what they did with me. When you are early they sometimes do the test on a full bladder and then on an empty bladder coz the fetus is very small. As you go further into the pregnancy they will do it normally. There will be no instuctions of empty or full bladder and this will not be transvaginal. so no pain :)......Donno if i have answered your question. Anyways it wud be nice to connect since we are ard the same place, call mail meet....whatever. What SAy?

Hey ..........am from NY. It is not uncommon to do your ultrasound at , diff place other than the doc's office . My doc has a very good repute here but she also followed the same proceedure. In early pregnancy the test is often done on a full bladder ...thatswhy u got those instructions. As far as doc is good and your costa are covered under insurance there s nothing to worry.

Hi kads,
I am from NJ, work in NY. I have to go to ultrasound under 14 weeks. In that they will check the heart bit of the baby. I am told not have any water or use bathroom about an hour before the test. I am sure how they are going to perform the test. Based on reading I think it will be empty bladder Trans-vaginal test. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks for your support
