Dear Members,
I am in my 25th week and having severe cramps especially in the legs, i get up from sleep with pain and cramped legs which need to be massaged for an hour to get me some respite! Is this normal? What can be possible remedies for it. I also have huge edema in my feet, my BP is normal and i do some exercises 4 times a week. Kindly help.

hi Saba,

I' m in my 26th week n had the same problem a couple of weeks back. Fortunately my sis is a gynae - she recommended Vit E to be taken twice a day for a week.

I took them for 10 days.
Voila - they sure have eased !

Leg cramps, especially at night, is fairly common as per what I have heard.

I am in my 27th week of my first and I have the same problem. As much as I hate to, I have to wake up my hubby and ask him to massage my legs at night when there is unbearable pain. Sometimes it keeps me tossing and turning all through the night!

There are a few remedies I have taken which seemed to have helped me so far. I have started eating bananas everyday as a friend said the cramps could be because of low potassium or calcium. I am also taking calcium tablets as prescribed by my doc from the 3rd month. Finally while sleeping I keep 2 pillows under my legs/calf so that they are elevated. I find this helped a lot!

I will be meeting my doc tomm so incase she suggests anything else I will definitely keep you posted.

As far as the huge edema is concerned, I think its better you show it to your doctor and get in checked. Sometimes there is some swelling due to water retention in the body or due to some hormonal fluctuations. Better to check with your doctor once and confirm everything is ok. Dont worry.

Hi Sunshine,
Wanted to thank you as i have releif from the cramps to a large extend now. I had started taking the pillows and bananas immediately. I also have my calcium without fail now.I have gotten a lady to do pregnancy massage also, it helped :)The massage and very minimum salt is also helping my swelling a bit.

Lifecell is the best
yes Life cell is the best, when ourbabygirl was due in Feb 2011 we shortlisted Lifecell after meeting Cyrobanks, Relicord, Babycord etc. Cyrobanks are thugs they promise you the moon and also there is no indian hand in this company so we can' t rely on them at all. Relicord is good but the offers have so much marketing gimmicks. Other players lacks either the technical inf... - CK [View Message]

Avoid Beena Jaysingh. We' ve got seriously burnt up by Dr. Beena Jaysingh of Apollo Bellandur. Dr Beena is highly unprofessional and always behind money. She is incompetent and doesn' t understand patient problems and needs. Whenever we went to her for my wife' s pregnancy she wrote all the available tests without even asking and thinking.

My personal experience with ReliCord is not good. My baby is now 9 months old and the contract is still not signed. I am following up since last 6 months.

Anybody has any idea what can be done in such a case.... - Ani [View Message]
