Due Date Club December 2004:Irregular movements

Name: Geetha One day my baby is so active & then I don't feel any movements for 1 or 2 days. Is this normal at 20 weeks? I know it's ok if we don't feel movements for a couple of hours but for days?

i am new here and 22 weeks.i started feeling movements from 18 weeks.i feel movements for one full day.for one week they are fine.but movements slowed down from past two weeks.i feel movements one or two times in two, three days only.is it a problem? why baby is slowing down?

Movements

First it felt like a very soft touch from inside. So it took me a while to recognize. Now it feels more like a butterfly flapping its wings like Archie said. These r noticeable.

Different in different girls

Dear priya and Naveena,
There is no particular way that all should experience. Some feel some butterfly like moves, some feel like swiming something, some feel a little bit of kick type ones. It's not necessarily the same that someone experienced. I felt like poking while first movement, later on in a few days they became like something swimming and like a butterfly flapping it's wing.

Dear Geetha,
The movement pattern is not developed yet for your baby and they will be sort of erratic. At times many and for some hours to a day none.
They will get regular and intense around week 26 and stay strong untile week 31. From week 33 onward due to limting space in womb they are less likely to be noticed but you should notice them on and off in a day. Classically 10 movements in 2 hours after meal (say dinner) while sleeping on side.

I am not sure as I did not start feeling movements at all.I don't know how long I have to wait to feel my baby moving.

It will come in a few weeks

Dear Naveena,
It will take about 2-4 weeks still. You can stay in touch of Dr. if sometime you get concerned.
You can wait until week 24, classically you will notice between week 18 to week 22 (90% cases do during this window period). Although you can experience anytime between week 16 to week 26.

b'day party

seems everyone is busy ,busy alot. For me too life is hactic. But i do not forget to take a break in between either a movie or party or go out on weekends. Last 15 days i had all.
