Planning a Baby  Discussion Forum

I have been following this forum, thanks to everyone who is sharing their experiences. I personally feel single women adoption in India is stressful and agencies are skeptical on single NRI women adoption.

I wanted to adopt a toddler (boy < 5 years) and leave him with my parents for a year and then apply dependent visa for the kid. I have to do so, since I am working on H1B and green card process will take another year. However most of the agencies are doubtful on my actions and are not proceeding further. Last few weeks I had personally visited few local adoption centers in Hyderabad and Chennai, but was unsuccessful.

How do I convince Agencies that I am not interested in marrying due to personal reasons / health condition, despite of my explanation, during questionnaire… I was asked sarcastic and strange question’s ...”Marry someone and adopt”, “Sponsor few kids in our organization”.

I am already 33 years old, I cannot wait any longer to have a family of my own…Are any one successful on single parent adoption? Why cannot single women adopt a kid when she is financially stable to care of family?

R.S replied. Thats the point of licenced adoption agencies. To ensure that strangers do not take an already abandoned and traumatised child and further leave him/her with other strangers for 1 year..and then have do deal with the further trauma of an absent mother who is busy earning a living without a husband to help. This plan should really mess up the child' s sense of security. For a toddler routine and familiarity even in squalid conditions are far preferable to this situation.. praveen tiwari replied. u can adopt a child its not a problem but rules are much complicated and u have to move for court orders also finally u will get the baby but it will take time and why u r sticked with Hydrabd and surroundings u can adopt from all over india
