all these experienced mommies did u all have to have the internal? what say cha? archie ? pria?i was seriously thinking of requesting the doc not to do it if it is not mandatory...

Hi Shaily,

Yes, with both of my other pregnancies I had internal exams right near the end of the pregnancy, next week I have the exam for this pregnancy. The doctor is able to tell if your cervix is softening and if you are dialating.

Like Archie said, when you are admitted into the hospital these internal exams happens every 30 minutes or so...nurses and doctors keep coming in to \";check your progress\";.

Nothing to worry about.

Cha = )

thanx cha n archie.

i have had something called a PCT which involves testing internal mucous.its just tht when i had this "intenal " i became so nervous and concious tht my vaginal muscles really tightened up, doc was smiling- she tooe then took some time to put me at ease:) but tht was the 1st time i guess; i might get used to it...

archie i will keep what u said in mind during the check ups- u sounded so angry perhaps at my ignorance or mayb u thot tht i am scared of the pain:) i am but only b4 the pain ...somehow the endurance appears magically everytime i have to bear any pain!!

what are you not comfortable? the pain or thought of pain? If this is it then labor would set you in right place!

Internal check up is better judgement about cervix progress than ultrasound. It might pain a little for the first time but it's alright. Most of them do from 37th week till delivery. and yes when in labor the first thing in hospital a duty OB will do is to check internally your cervix progress. Please get used to internal check up.

If you are not comfortable about she doing check up not for pain but personal reason then nothing can be said. But think seriously a vaginal birth would not happen without internal checkup. She or duty Dr. will check your cervix for a few times since you get hospitalized.

Have any of you pierced your baby´ s ears?
Have any of you pierced your baby' s ears? Where did you get it done? Were you able to change the earrings after the piercing and put on indian ear rings? My pediatrician does not do it, and she suggested that i take tanvi to the mall. Pls share your experiences at the mall if you' ve had any.

Ear piercing
My daughter was 5 months old when we decided to get her ear pierced. The non medical ear piercing options are painful and unsafe with possibilities of hepatitis, viruses and even HIV and I can never recommend it. My husband and I were looking for a safe, modern, gun shot piercing option which is completely safe, pain-free and with a traditional touch as well.
