Due Date Club May 2007:Too Much Nausea/Acidity bad for unborn?

Hi friends.... Was going through a very tough time with nausea, weakness and bad acidity. Infact in the past 2 days. Though today I am fine. I had been throwing up within 15 minutes of me eating or drinking anything. The nausea feeling was so bad that even though there was nothing to throw up, my stomach was having spasms. Beacuse of that i started having pain in my stomach. I am seriously concerned that this will have a bad effect on the unborn since the baby is getting no nourishment. I have heard that sometimes they have to put the mother-to-be on glucose if the weakness is too much. Is it true?? Am worried.
Any tips on how to get over this?

Well, since Priya & Archie have already given you the main things, I'll only add that spasms are also normal even after you have thrown up every single morsel from your system. Suggest u try drinking lime juice with ginger n' salt n' sugar in the mid morning.. and keep some dry snacks at hand like crackers/ corn flakes/ biscuits etc.. these helped me when i was at my worst.
For your acidity like Archie said, try the anti-acids and please remember to drink atleast 2.5-3 ltrs of water. Don't matter how many times u have to pee. And of course don't expect any bladder control when u throw up. (i know it sounds gross, but trust me, been there faced that!)
but the water will help in combating acidity as well as dehydration.
Take rest, and enjoy.
Oh! and check with your doc, my doc had prescribed a tablet called navidoxine, which she insisted i don't take until I'm desperate, and even then take only 1/2 and not more than 1 during the course of a day. But please check with your do on that. Also my doc had suggested 1 glass of Glucose (the drink) in the morning with breakfast (but not more than one glass during the day and no artificial juices/ soft drinks, though u may want to check up about 7up apparently that helps too)
And don't worry about the baby, it's fine and probably won't notice a thing:)
u just take care of yourself and all will be great!
All the best,
Love,
Sunshine n' baby. :)

Chikupie,

It is absolutely fair to get concern when pregnant first time. I think your OB should explain all these things on the first visit when pregnancy is established.

Can baby be running under risk if pregnant mother suffer from severe morningsickness?

No, baby will not be in trouble.
The truth is this, if you have had nutritious meals before and while conceiving your body has stored bounty of nutrients and developing fetus knows how to steal it from there. There are severals of hundred thousand cases suffering from severe morningsickness without medication some of them are accompanied with this condition throughout pregnancy still they deliver healthy babies. My neighbor is best example that I know. She for her all six pregnancies suffered from severe morningsickness I ever have known. At times her family would have to lift her and put in vehicle and bring to city hospital where she used to get drips, it happened almost 3-4 times in each of her pregnancies. She however had her daughters at term and all were extremely healthy weighed more than 7 pounds at birth.

Acidity is common for first and third trimester you can eat Calcium supplemented antiacid such as TUMS. As many you need.

Most importantly do not leave your stomach empty and work on what's suitable for your stomach and have it frequenty yet in small portions.

Unless you exhibit dehydration you will less likely require hospitalization and put you on drips.

Give a casual call to your OB and have him/her advised on this issue.

Archie

right now baby gets all the nutrients from th emultivitamin you are taking so it is not a problem but if it continues and you are losing weight the your gyn will take action like give you medication. also you need to drink plenty of water if you are vomitting because there are chances of dehydration.
