Wanted to know, whether can the fetal heart beats felt by touching the left site of the lower stomach as early as 8 weeks.

Infact in the middle of the night, when its calm, when i concentrate i feel somthing like heart beats of the baby by touching my tummy. I dont know whether its just a feeling, or whether its the fact. Buts indeed its a good feeling. I am just waiting for the days when i can start feeling the kicks and turns.

Hi Shilpa,

Your query prompted me to do some research on the net. I have read in many places that you can feel the abdominal pulse (pulse in the abdomen) more prominently during pregnancy. I have felt the pulse myself and it is not foetal heart beat. Foetal heart beat cannot be detected so easily without the help of special instruments. The pulse can be felt more strongly especially if you are smaller in size.
Hope this clarifies your doubts.

i too used to think the same way...im in my 7th weeek and im not sure if its pyschological or really true....but i did ask my husband and he didnt really feel a thing...although i think I did feel the beats (but only in the late night when its very quit)....its gr8 to know that someone feels the same way....

Hi there

Its nice to know that u too feel the same. Actually, this is my second pregnacy, but i did not feel the same at the time of first. And its like i can feel the vibration on when its very silent and when i try to concentrate. Its only particularly on the left side of the lower abdomen.

I think, if it was psychological, i could have felt on any part of the tummy, but why particularly on only one part only and very prominent when i lie to the left side.

Any one else to join the same experience
