Due Date Club December 2006:my birth story
2007-01-18
Name: poppins

My due date was jan 1st 2007 but i did not get any signs of labour till Jan 5th so the doctor planned to induce labour using a gel. I was induced at 10 am on 5th of jan. Contractions began within 2 hrs but were not so strong. By 6 pm the contractions were strong but not regular so the midwife suggested me a long walk. I went for a walk and by 7 pm the water broke and very strong contractions began. I was still 1 cm dialated. By 1 am 6th jan, i was 4 cm dialted and it was difficult for me to resist the pain from the contractions so i asked for epidural.
It was a boon. I slept for 3-4 hrs and at 5 am the midwife told me that i was 9 cm dialted and will have an urge to push in another hour or so.Epidural was removed then.
It happened as said and i had an urge to push by 5.30 am. I had a hard time pushing as the baby was not comming out.I pushed till 6.45 but no result and i was in tremendous pain. So they decided to use vaccum to pull her out. An epistomy was done and vaccum used to pull my little one. It took about 4-5 contractions till she was finally born at 7.07 am of jan 6th. She was stressed and purple due to lack of oxygen and her head was long. But recovered very fast. I was on the top of the world to hold her in my hands.
Again i was put on epidural as i had deep epistomy and required more than 20 stiches. I am still recovering and expect to get well soon. Baby is doing fine. Just that she has a swelling on her head due to the vaccum. I am very happy that i did not have to go for a c section. Now both of us are getting used to each other.
