Due Date Club August 2007: why do i feel so depressed?
2007-01-20

Hi everyone.
I am not new to this forum, as I always refered to it at the time of my first pregnancy. I have a son who is 2+. I'm again pregnant and my due date is 27th Aug 07.
General saying is that the expectant mother should be very happy ,calm during pregnancy, listen to good music and read good books. I did all this during my first pregnancy. However, I have been feeling very sad, emotional (cry easily) ,lonely and depressed this time. My husband and I live alone and unfortunately dont have a good support system in terms of friends or relatives.. nor do i have any domestic helper to do household. I sometimes feel very frustrated abt all this.
I am worried because though I know that my depression is affecting the baby negatively , I am unable to do anything abt it. Any sincere advice would be greatly appreciated.

Please don' t worry..seems to be hormonal changes and emotions of the mom go weird too. I understand missing parents and family at such times esp if the first child..mostly in US we all are alone, best u can do is enjoy the most u can with ur husband, read as much as u can, talk to friends and moms who have had babies. Fear of going wrong is there but I can assure you even a lady sitting in a couch can have something untoward happening its all God' s will. So trust God and be positive, share it with ur husband and enjoy it.
After the experience of the first child i would say sleep as much as u can :) u will need rest when baby arrives and u have to wake up every 2 hours to feed..so pregnancy is easier time:) no diapers, cleaning, thinking if they are hungry, day care..etc.
Whenever u r upset/scared of something, try diverting if u can or engage in some activity u like to do orcall a friend.
All the best. Don' t worry..Your baby is doing fine.
