my child caughta cold 2 weeks back..the cold is gone but she has been havin severe congestion bcoz of which she has diff feeding n breathing.. help!!! and her nose gets blocked if she sleeps directly under the fan..docs say its a common prob in babies..anyone experienced the same??????? pk replied. I am from Jan board. My baby had the same problem. Her dr told me todo this,

Take the baby to a staemed room for few minutes.(Open the shower(hot water) for some time and close the door of bathrom. Hold the baby in the staem for some time..this will relieve her congestion. If you are in US you can get nasal drops and bulb sirynge..put some drops on her/his nose and suction with syringe before feeding. Elevate baby's head little bit with a cloth.It is very common nothing to worry.

Look for thse things if she is having difficulty breathig,

if she is flaring her nose or her rib cage going in inside when she is breathing or her lips turning blue she has to taken to hospital immeduately..otherwise its fine..You will find mucus in her stool for the next couple of days..thats fine. Make sure she feeds well.
