Hi

I have a query . I plan to buy a breAST PUMP.

How does Ameda PY and Medela PIS compare in terms of pumping time??

How is the service with Ameda??

Hi Anu,

For me the pumping time is about the same for both- about 10-15 minutes. I pump both sides simultaneously. My Ob sugggested most effective way to empty the breast is to pump for 10 min, wait 5 min and pump again for 5 min. Most is pumped in the first 5-7 minutes but I still continue till 10min are up, then I get about 1/2 oz each side when I pump the second five minutes.

I haven't called for service so I can't answer that. I got spare parts from a lady who deals with Ameda and Medela parts from home. You will be able to find some source close to u if u go to www(dot)ameda(dot)com. Or you could order online. For Ameda u may want to stock up on the \";white valves\"; because they are very delicate and supposed to tear easily. The pump won't work without these and they only cost ~$2.50 a pair. So far I haven't torn mine! For Medela I guess the white flap like things may be useful to stock up on.

It depends where u stay actually
If u are on the west coast then KK wont be far else if u stay near jurong there are many hosp for kids there
