hi there to all the moms and hetal..
i have a 7 week baby girl.she was born at 5.9 pounds and i hve been breastfeeding. her weight at her fourth week checkup was 8.3 pounds. However for the past one week or so she has only been feeding for 5 mins at a sitting and sleeps off..nothing is able to wake her and as a result she is fussy all day..also as a result my milk also seems to have reduced..
my ped suggested feeding her formula atleast once..so i started her on formula..also i started pumping..and i am able to pump around 2 to 3 ounces every 2-3 hours. I'm not sure if that is sufficient for her. but she feeds well on pumped milk.
my question would be how much milk is sufficeient milk
Is there any harm if i top up my milk with an ounce or so of formula
Is it oki if i pump 8-10 times in a day
also would like to know what is the max duration a 7-8 week old can sleep..sometimes she seems to sleep around 4-5 hours at a stretch and I also notice that she makes sucking sounds and passifies herself with her hand. is this a normal behaviour..this she does after she feeds also..so that makes me doubt if my milk is sufficient or not..please reply and share ur thoughts with me..
