I am scared to death.... I do not know what to do.

Previously, we discussed and was said by many that its proven yet that Microwave is not safe for preg women. Just read this url www,pregnancy,org/article,php?sid=1203

It says microwave is harmful for the babies. I feel like crying right now... what did I do?? I hope & wish that my baby is safe and sound inside. Please pray for me. I feel like i should get burried right away. How could I get so careless. Pls pls pray for my baby i am scared...

Hi Shikha,

Don't worry. I remember we had a similar controversy in the Aug board on the use of Microwaves. The research is still going on and nothing has been 'proved' yet. So all they say is just to be careful. I have been using microwve all my pregnancy but read that you can start the mocrowave and then move away from it- not stand in front of it until it turns off by itself. And then you can go and open the door. I have been doing like this almost through out my pregnancy and I don't think there is any problem. Even if you did stand before the microwave, don't worry for what has happened, as all these micraowaves are well insulated so as to not let the rays to leak out! But we are playing safe thats all.

Take it easy. Sometimes... our imagination can drive us nuts !!!! I am sure you baby is absolutely safe.

Take care,
Arti

My doctor says microwaves at home are not harmful to use. And there is no concrete proof that microwave usuage is harmful during pregnancy.

If it is so, imagine how people will protest it in US. The door of microwave is usually designed with some ligning that prevents the rays from coming out.

Ask this your doctor and clear your mind.

Relax and don't worry,
CK

Shikha,

We understand the cause of your worry, but I think only prolonged/direct exposure to any radiation is harmful to the foetus...and the m/w ovens that we use at home are usually designed to be within safe limits for daily usage...

Everything's going to be alright with you and the lil one, don't worry!

Dear Shikha,
Tell us little more what you did. May be nothing the sort of you are thinking.

Microwave is bad definitely but only when you are exposed to those rays! Otherwise it's not supposed to harm you or littleone inside you!

Hope you are doing OK.
