Hello,
I have been diagonised with genital TB and am taking medicines for the same. Its 3 months since I am on medication. I have been trying to conceive for more than 2 yrs and I want to know if I will be able to concieve after this treatment. I have been advised to take medicines for 6 months. Also, I would like to know about the tests that are performed to confirm that the infection has gone and how early can one start trying to concieve.

It is indeed very comforting and soothing to talk to you and receive very consoling words. I appreciate it a lot.
I hope your HSG test went well. Are you done with the 6 month TB Rx medication? If yes, do you see any improvement?
I shall also try to go in for Yoga - since I too believe it heals both the mind and the body.

hi rama,
surprisingly my HSG was quite painless.its scary ,yes.
yes i have finished TB Rx.
i didnt have any significant symptoms to start with so cant see any difference. my doc had also asked me if i have noticed any change.
good to know that you will be trying out yoga, it has def helped me a lot.
i was very depressed when i found out that i have to wait for 9 months for the TB Rx to finish to start TTC. my doc advised me to utilise that time to get back into shape and improve my overall health and diet.

hi rama,
i too have TB of the tubes. my doc has advised me not to conceive till i finish the med, as you should not be taking any med in the first 3 months.
there is no test to confirm if TB is fully cured.as the tests are highly sensitive and often give a false positive.
but if you are very worried over this you can ask for an endometrial biopsy for TB .

hi,
i went in for an HSG to see if the tubes are clear now or if there are any more adhesions.
i had some menstrual problem too. tried yoga it really helps, made a difference in 1 1/2 months.
ofcourse you will get completely cured and will conceive a healthy baby.

Hi Neha,
In my case too the PCR test was +ve, and the culture test was -ve. But on undergoing a hystero - Laproscopy the dr found a lot of adhesions in my uterus and suspected it to be TB adhesions. I also had a very bulky uterus. When the PCR test came as +ve, she immediately put me on TB Rx. I underwent all these tests in India and am presently in the US. I will be seeing the Dr once I complete the 6 months of medication. I also have very painful periods due to the infection. So, I am very worried and eager to know if I will ever be able to get cured completely and concieve.

hi rama,
in my case the first test{PCR for TB} was positive, second test{TB culture in saline medium} was negative. still to be safe i was put on TB Rx.
i asked the same queston to my doc and she said that as my treatment was mostly on emperical evidence and the tests are too sensitive.
there is no test to confirm if TB is completely cured in my case.
i did have uterine adhesions because of TB. going in for HSG .
