Hi Hetal,

I have a 5 month old girl, who falls asleep easily every night between 8-9pm. she wakes between 12-1 for a bottle feed and again around 3, but then becomes very restless and is uanble to sleep deeply. this keeps us up all night listening to her toss and turn and make sounds, (she sleeps in her own crib next to our bed) till we wake her up at 6:30 am. what can i do to get her to sleep soundly after 3 in the night. am i doing something wrong that is causing her to be restless. please advise. thanks in advance.

hi there,
what her bw, currnt wght and hows she in health stats ?
1. if she is 5months old, and exclusive on liquid/bm or formula,,,you can talk to your dr if these are not the signs of startng solids.
2. if you are bf, she might be feelng gassy, due to some diet you have had in later noons to night time,,reduce the diaries, beans and all gasy foods and check in other 24hours.
3. restless -- how you describe that,...
4. try keepng your own clothes that you wore, esp the bra bad or something like that,,see if your presnce makes him sleep better in his crib..
5. make him sleep with you might help.
6. gvng him gentle pats on his back, might help.

apart from that,,see if makng her sleep on alternate side helps her to sleep better..sometimes babies feel bloaty during night feeds or due to too much liquid diet,,and it makes them feel uncomfrble, when sleepng on back
7. see if makng him sleep elevated helps...

thats all i can see with these details..
wat are your baby sleepng schedules at 5montths ??? lemme see,,if that throws some lights on why she is havng disturbed sleep.

Hi Hetal, thanks for your reply. Misha was born at 7.35 pounds and is exactly 7kgs now. i have introduced formula a week ago and felt that this may be too heavy for her at nights, so last 2 nights i have fed her bm and formula only in daytime, this has helped her sleep better. i have started her on solids at 4 months, i usually give her 1tsp of rice cereal in the morning, i ice cube of mashed vege like pumpkin or avocado in the afternoon, plus milk throughout the day. she usually wakes at 6:30 with me, takes a nap around 9 for an hour, then nap again at 12-1, again at 5 and then sleeps for the night between 8-9. she sleeps well till midnight or 1, then gets restless. by that i mean, she moves a lot, makes noises and if we give her the pacifier then makes loud sucking, mostly it is just noises like turning and tossing in sleep. sorry to have written so much info hetal. i really appreciate your input. thanks

Sleep Problem due to itchy skin
My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
