Due Date Club December 2006:my birth story..

Here is my birth story..

I had pink/brown mucous discharge on Dec 1st around 9.30 am. It continued till afternoon and I called my doctor just to be safe and she asked me to wait until I get contractions, water breaks or if I see anything unusual. Till 6.00 pm I was fine then the contractions started and I didn’t know they were contractions and I waited for a bit and they had a pattern they were 5 minutes apart around 7.30 and I called my doctor and she asked me to have two glasses of water and lie down to see if the pain goes away but it didn’t, so I had to go to the hospital. I was in the hospital around 9.10 and I was connected to all the monitors after that. The nurse checked me around 9.30 and I was 6 cm dilated.

My doctor came in around 9.45 and I was 8 cm dilated and she broke my water bag and things went very fast after that. I was 9 cm dilated around 10.15 pm and they had everything ready for the delivery.

But I didn’t had the urge to push but the nurse asked me to turn on my left side and around 10.30 I had a strong urge to push and I was asked to push and my baby boy was out at 10.44 pm. I was so happy to see him. We named him “Nikhil”.

Mine was a very short and a drug free delivery. Thanks to the nurse who was very supportive and she encouraged me to go without the epidural. I was insisting on getting one at the last minute and she was by my side and told me that she had her four children without epidural and that I can do it.

I was very happy that I attempted it and was successful. It was worth the pain.

Congratulations to others who already delivered their angels.

I wish others a safe and smooth delivery and get enough rest now before the baby comes.
