Due Date Club February 2005:learning from mistakes

Hi New Moms...

For almost a week now, my son has been crying relentlessly especially during feeding, though I didn't know the exact reason...of late I notice that he passes a LOT of gas, and strains and cries during that. I couldn't identify the reason for his gas since I have avoided most gas causing food items in the recent past... Also I started noticing mucous in his stools and it was greenish on and off...these sent the alarms in my head off...
Well yesterday called the pediatrician and he said that it could be some stomach virus, that possibly irritates the intestines...they have advised me to go on bland diet (I guess the spice in my food has irritated his intestines causing a lot of gas prodution, and hence he feels very uncomfortable when drinking milk on a bloated stomach, though he is hungry...)
I feel so bad to see his twist and turn and cry his head out when it hurts for him...If his situation does not improve soon, I need to take him in to the ped. office...hope and pray it all gets better soon...Well i know many of us are careful about our diets, but I guess xtra carefullness is needed...
Also I have been suggested to give mylicon gas drops.
My son has also developed a cradle cap and baby acne....so everything at the same time :( Been advised to use just plain water to clean him...

It's been a trying time for me these days...

Dear Tweety,

even my daughter does nt sleep at night, not even a bit and cries non stop. doc says nt to worry its gas and u have to burp her. in fact she is taking out milk very often these days.

i get so tired the whole night feeding her and the poor thing cannot sleep at night. i am still nt clear abt the reason. doc says its normal. she is active taking feeds regularly and her body is warm then u need nt worry.

so like he said to me, i am tellingu just hang in there. my baby is just 11 days old.

take care

tamanna

Hi, i can relate to whatever u are going through but trust me its all a temporary phase and your son will be fine! some babies including mine go through all that u described at the same time and for gas u can make him feel comfortable by burping him often after every oz. of milk, i tried woodwards gripe water and it helped somewhat, for some milicon works but before u give up any have patience and try for atleast 2-3 weeks!! ofcourse moms eating habits have to be altered in order to minimize gas ..avoid spicy foods, eat lots of greens, drink water! rem babies are adjusting to our environment day by day and skin allergies are part of it but they will outgrow all that soon!!
