I teach my son how to clap,wave byebye,blowkiss but he is not picking it up. He still doesnt remember his name? his development is good,he can seat,crawl drink from cups,pull up him self and walk with holding sofa or walker. but he cant remember stuff.. he knows lot of stuff but not this. please help me pepsi replied. my baby is also 8m old and i wd say, she also does same things like ur son ... and doesnt do things that you mentioned your son doesnt do!

Dont worry, let the babies pick up on their own. Dont expect too much, dont force, dont take tension!

And for a 8m old, i think clapping or blow kiss is a little too much. My baby does recognise names, but you know what, she recognizes all names but doesnt know which one is hers! So she turns back for her name, her Didi' s name, her maid' s name! haha

I keep trying to teach her what her name is. But she will learn when she has to.

There is a website link someone had pasted, it contained something like newsletter, it was in PDF form (if you know what that is). That site contains links for all age babies, u click on it and it opens up a pdf-report which has baby' s expected development in this age, what he would learn at this stage, what we can do, how we can play.

There is another site eHow. Go to the family-babies section there u can find tips on how to play with a 8m old and how to stimulate dev of 8m old.

One more thing that i do is reading a story book to the baby before she sleeps at night. I have bought a colorful, big but light book which has large pic characters. I dont read out the story as of now, but I just point out to the characters and say their names. Likewise, you can buy picture books of daily items - shirt, cup, chair, brush - and read them to the baby. This way baby will pick up names. I use only 1 and same book everyday. Its not time yet to show her different books!

Another things i have taught my baby has is to ' give' (de-de in hindi) and take (le-le). Also drop/throw (chi-chi). Du-du for breastfeed and bottle.
She blabbers. So I have taught her the word \" mummmm\" for water. She doesnt yet say mummm when she wants wants water (though she can speak mummm), but she recognizes what i mean when i say mummm.

Every state in India has some baby-games. I hv seen them varying from state to state so cant mention mine, but you might have seen elders playing games like \" akkad-bakkad\" in north India - might hv seen in hindi movies. Then there are baby poems. Such things also help stimulate baby' s brain.
