Pratham is 10 ½ mths old and very active. He started rolling over at 6th mth , now he sits without support and stands and walks with support, but he won’t crawl or he wont bring himself to sitting position from lying down position. I’m worried, is this normal?

Hetal replied. yup its normal. he can sit thats good !
talk to your dr about it,,he has seen your child developments and pace so he will measure it correctly thn i can whether or not its a thing to worry..
other thn that,,its perfectly normal for babies until 1year to get help when want to sit from lying position,,later thn that, dr will get concerned himself at your 1 year well child checkup or vaccnatns when complete checkup is asked or done.
sometimes, babies whose torso is bigger thn lower body part,,those kids take time in sitting considerng that they have to make extra efforts in sitting as the upper part of body is heavier or larger thn the lower part.(lower part starts from waist to legs),
for kids that are high on wght, takes time in sitting from laying position to standing position,,and sometimes standing or pulling themselves from sitting position because thr body is still gettng used to thr own body wght and its thr body parts has to be able to bear the wght and support of thr own body,,so give them enough time to do so.
you can try these:
1. whenver in layng postn, give them your fingr and let him hold and come to sitting postion,..
2. since point no1 they might be already doing that, now you have to do is reduce your pull and see how much efforts your child puts in pulling himself to sitting position with your least pullls/efforts,,and like wise reduce your efforts,,and let him do it on his own.
3. let him sit next to something that can be hold and sit and see how he lifts himself without your efforts,,,keep that support abit far and increase the distance gradually,,let your child try to bend forward and try to grab that support to make him sit from layng postn,,this in itself make him put extra efforts to sit on his own !
4. get some toys that can be pulled and played with her,,so that if trying to grab those toys makes her sit from laying position and continue doing that...
thats all i can help you with !
no worries,,his backbone is good that he walks and stands with support,,give him these exercises and such toys and he will start relying on his efforts,,all he needs a lil push from you !
good luck
