Due Date Club October 2005:Diarrhea and babies

Name: Veenu Rohan passed 4-5 stool in 4 hrs. Does that mean he has diarhea. I called pedia as per her nothing to worry... I should see he is weting the diaper... Is this normal.. Till yesterday he was passing 1-2 times... He is exclusive on BF.

I am worried . As per doc i should keep Pedialyte handy just in case...

Is it normal him to pass stool this much.

Yes it is normal

Hey Veenu,

yes this is normal...i am saying so because for the same reason i had ran to the hospital last saturday as he was pooping at every feeding and even sometimes in between like little little 2-3 times and he feeds every 3 hrs on schedule all the time.
that time the pidiatric told me that he will poop these many times as he feeds so many times a day.it is obvious he is going to poop that many times.sometimes they poop little little and not completly at once.I think this is what you are experiencing.

veenu,
yup vara is right. babies can poop as ofetn as theyy wish and if they are on exclusive BM noworries at all. there absolute nil chance of them catching diarrhoeal infection. my son rahul[now 6months] did this till abput 5weeks of age, then went the opposite and pooped once in 5-6 days!!!!! cant do anything.its their wish and they will poop when they like!!! just ensure urine output is good...

Hi Veenu, nothing to worry. Its very common. It actually depends on the food v take as they r taking our milk. There won't be any schedule for the babies for pooping.

I have been visiting site and finally cld see posts. Rhea is doing good.Pretty active like other kids.she sings whole abc song and counts 1to 6 (her bro' s impact)
I have been busy since i joined work since Jan ,so my inlaws are here to help with kids.i terribley miss both kids during day.
