I hope everyone is coping up with motherhood. It's such a blessing to have our little ones with us .

Archie , i am feeding my baby with formula atleast twice in a day ( enfamil) . But she is having a lot of gas problems . We find that she is very uncomfortable , she even brings her legs close to her tummy every now & then. Infact she even had hard stools yesterday.

Can babies suffer from constipation ? If yes what are the remedies ? pls help i am very worried about this . we see that she is so very uncomfortable . we tried giving her pudina/jeera/sauf pani ...it did help ..BUT NOT MUCH

Since yesterday i am giving her MYCOLIN ( infant gas releif) medication. How much shud i give her . Also how often can we repeat the doses.

Are any of ur babies having similar problems ??? waiting for replies.

Having how many stools is normal for babies. My baby just passes one stools in 24 hrs . Is that OK?

Dear Archana,
As I am not a master with baby stuff will be able to answer a few of your concerns from what I read recently inbooks and my own experience with babies.

1. Your baby can get constipated from FORMULA.

2. have you been burping your daughter? if not then do that each time you feed her. make sure she drinks slow and not very fast, use Playtex vent aire bottles, will reduce intake of gas in mouth.

3. Talk to pediatrician before using medications, babies less than a month are delicate.

4. stool frequency depends on how spicy you eat and if the stool is soft or thin. Usually babies with breast milk and thin stool can pass it as many as 5 times a day or sometimes 8 also. If baby does not pass stool over 24 hours in first 3 months and is breast fed then you should be worried. If the stool is hard chances are that baby is suffering from consitpation, get to her Dr. before it gets worse.

4. Can you try breast milk?

5. if you are giving some breast milk watch out what you eat, that has a lot more impact on gas of your daughter.
