Hi friends,
After TTC for 2 yrs,(after all tests, HSG , laproscopy, etc.etc.) we r going for IUI this March. Would be nice if u could tell about the procedure...like is it painful...any precautions... How far successful is it? etc. Just a bit anxious. Thanks a lot in advance...

oh...so you are still having pains...i really dont know about this...i am not having any such pains.....i dont know if we can refer to other website here....there is a website Indusladies wherein lots of women who are ttc share their problems, views, experiences etc...i just read one case of such pains today morning there............you can register there and check out all details....while registering you can give reference of my email id.....i dont know if we can mention that over here...just let me know if interested...

coming back....ya me too just waiting for days to pass..wondering if there is any method by which we can check what is actually going on within, isn it...now people should invent such stuff also soon....this will be of lot of help.....

well jokes apart....take lot of care and rest......wishing you all the very best........

hi swati...that is so very sweet of you to answer all my questions...i am feeling a bit relaxed now...though frankly speaking, i am still little scared...

well felt very sad to know your first IUI did not work...really its so depressing after undergoing all such efforts, if things dont work out....

my case is i have left polysystic ovary and left fallopian tube block..so thats the problem...

my very best wishes for your 2nd IUI..are you in India???

Thanks very much dear

hi swati,

how are you post your 2nd IUI...my first IUI was done on 14th...oh it was not that easy and i had pain during the resting period also....well you have written after your follicles ruptured, IUI was done for you...in my case, before the follicle was about the rupture i.e 14th day, the IUI was done..follicular study on 13th day showed follicle size of more than 19 on both ovaries........

no HPT is said for me...just asked to wait n watch...could take rest only for 1 day as i am working..lets see now what happens.......

best of luck to you too for this cycle...

Hi R,
Actually I m not very depressed about the result. The doctor has told we will try 6 IUIs. So, we should not expect things to work out in first time itself. Let s hope for the best

Hi swati

thank you for that details...I have done an HSG before and the procedure of inserting catherer was terrible..

just wanted to check as to how is the catherer that is used for IUI. Is it soft ...Did you feel any pain while catherer was inserted...I am just too worried about the whole procedure..

Please advise

Hi,
The insertion procedure was not very painful. If u keep in mind about the pain we had during HSG, then this will pass easily.Trust me, it is very mild pain compared to HSG. and this wont last long.
BTW, my first IUI failed. Have started with medicines and injections for my second IUI. All the best to u.

Hi,
The IUI went on very smoothly.
Went for scan in the morning. After they said the follicles had ruptured, my husband gave sample(at aroung 11 AM). This was processed for sometime. Then at 1 PM, I was called. The nurse assisted me to a room and asked me to wait for the doctor.
The doctor came and she did the procedure. She inserted the catheter and then injected the semen sample. I felt a little discomfort and then it was just over in 2 minutes. No pain after that also. Then I had to rest for 40 minutes.
I have been given some medicines. Am taking them regularly and have been advised to avoid strain / stress and lifting heavy weights for few days. Am very happy with the way the treatment is going as of now. Today is 6th day after IUI. Have been asked to take HPT on 17th day after IUI. That s all from my side.
Any other questions, do let me know. Will be happy to help u! All the best

Hi Swati,

IUI is not at all painful. once you will have your periods, Doctor will be giving you some Harmonal Injections for Folicle ( Egg) development. Scan will be done an alternate day to see Folicle Growth. Once your Folicle are mature, they will ask your husband sperm sample, They will Inject your husband sprerms to Uterous. They will inject sperms for countiue 3 days, It is not at all painful, after injecting sperms they will tell you to lie down for 30 minutes, and go back home. then they will give you some medicine to prevent infection /miscarrage. will ask you to come for blood test after 2 weeks. During IUI session you sud not have Intercourse until your Blood Test is done, Avoid carrying weight, Most Imp is Dont be Tesnsed, Be positive.

IVF via Donor Sperm
Hi, we are planning for ivf via donor sperm as we have genetic history wherein my daughter is ASD and mine own brother is ADHD hence genetic counselor said there is risk of 15-20 percent of child being autistic if we use our own gamet. If male child is born the risk is higher than a girl child.

Hence we thought to go for donor sperm. But there is still risk... - SS [View Message]
