Joint Family:Do men use their brain?

Why men, especially indian men, are like this? Either they listen to their wife or they listen to their mother/sister. Aren't they independent thinkers? Is there really any balanced person who respects both his parents and wife equally? I am wondering!
I wanted a husband who respects his family and who is loving. Now my husband seems to belong to the other extreme - belittle his wife (me) to praise his mother and sister. My sil is a rude peron - that is what i was told! My husband says her husband doesn't have the guts to control her. So however rude she is to me, or to my family, i must not complain. Nor my husband can do anything about it, but only my sil's huband can control her! What is the logic in it?! Nobody is asking for him to control his sister. All i am asking for is tell her to be a bit softer and milder to me and to my family, not to be too abusive and suspicious. My mil is a milder version of my sil. Still my husband wants me to love them, and i should not tell anyone (especially my family) about their misbehaviours to me!
Now how can i love them. Can anyone force anybody to love? It should be in 2 ways! How different is my husband from my sister-in-laws husband? Sils hubby fears his wife. My hubby fears his mother and siter. To me they both are sailing in the same boat. The respect i have for my hubby is declining because of his shallow comments! I am too frustrated. Having my residence in US i can't even have the pleasure of a nice vacation with my family (who are in india) when i want.

Hi,
mine is also a joint family and my sil is staying with me as she is not married as yet. i am also fed up of her behaviour and attitude. she is of no help in any way. she interferes in in all my personal matters. i am 8 months pregnant and instead of making me comfortable she adds to my burdens.i am really stuck in this. ours was a luv marriage but after marriage my husband has become totally indifferent towards me. he treats me low in front of his mom and sis. he tries to put them in every small issue. i cant even imagine of any support from his side.
Take care.

Should a single man live with his mum in India?
I am a man in my late 40s and I have lived abroad in USA for the past two decades. I never had any interest in marrying or having kids so I never married. Recently my Dad passed away and my mother will be alone. I have made enough money to retire comfortably but because I am used to the American lifestyle I can't live in India. Recently my relatives have started saying tha... - Venkat Dabri [View Message]
