Unexplained Infertility:PCOS

Hi friends,
We have a son of 5 yrs old, and now wanted to have another one, when i went for some tests, doctor told me that i have PCOS. I am a bit surprised as i dont have any other health problems like thyroid, sugar or BP. Also i think that women with PCOS have difficulty in conception, for me, it was not a problem during conception of my first child. Is it possible that it has developed after my first baby? I' m really confused as I am in a country where medical support is very expensive and un-understandable. Are there any treatments for this in India? I' m a bit scared of taking the hormone treatments etc as i see other women with so many side effects. Has anyone had a similar problem? pls respond.
Thanks
Rina

Hi

I was detected with PCOD when I was 21 when a scan was taken to check the reason for my irregular periods the doctor didn' t recommend any treatment & said that child birth after marriage will resolve the problem by itself. I got married at 26 & now am 30 & am yet to conceive. I had hormonal treatment for more than a year & did IUI once, but everything failed... I mean, I didn' t conceive at all. I got my periods as usual. I consulted various doctors who experimented their skills in my body. My doctor confirmed that both our medical reports are normal and we are medically fit to conceive. The last treatment cycle cultivated a cyst in my follicle & the procedure needed to be stopped. The doctor suggested me to take a break from taking medicines & try normally, but since my periods are irregular it is very tough for me to identify my ovulation period. Follicle study is expensive & is not feasible month after month. Also am afraid about the severe side effects of the hormonal treatments. Can anyone suggest some solution?

Hi Rina,
PCOS could cause delay in conception for some people, but others carry along fairly well. If you think PCOS is a cause of ur difficulty to conceive, you could try reducing weight, it helps in bringing back your cycles to normalcy pretty fast.
before trying any other modalities of treatment look for signs of ovulation every month using your basal body temperature charts and give it atleast 6 months time naturally.

IVF via Donor Sperm
Hi, we are planning for ivf via donor sperm as we have genetic history wherein my daughter is ASD and mine own brother is ADHD hence genetic counselor said there is risk of 15-20 percent of child being autistic if we use our own gamet. If male child is born the risk is higher than a girl child.

Hence we thought to go for donor sperm. But there is still... - SS [View Message]
