Due Date Club October 2001:Can anyone guide me?
2001-07-01
Name: Nikki

Hi everybody,
I'm one month pregnant, and will have to take a long flight
which will take approximately 22 hours, next month.
Is it wise to travel in the first trimester? Are there any
risks involved-like miscarriage etc.? If so, then please
guide me.
Thanks!
Nikki

hi again,
nikki-if you are allowed to travel by your gynaec, then a suggestion would be to,break up your journey especially if its a 22 hour flight.Stopover enroute and then complete the rest.I have a friend who did just that and she felt better for it.best of luck

Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome, as Jyotsna said listen to your body, since first trimister offers morning sickness and fatigue, woman usually try not to travel much during the first 12 weeks. Usually doctors say the most comfortable time to travel is between 13-27 weeks where you will not have first trimister goodies and discomforts of the last trimister !!
Anyways talk to your OBGYN before you travel, good luck !

hi nikki--welcome aboard! Its always wise to check with your gynaec before traveling in the 1st trimester. It also depends on your overall feeling during this time--morning sickness, fatigue etc.
The 1st trimester is always a period when one is asked to take extra care.So follow what your doc says. Also listen to your body.take care n best of luck
