Hi ,
Is there any fruits we need to avoid or limit during pregnancy?I heard that papaya and pineapple should be limited.Nowadays I like to eat lots of fruits than vegetables.in between meals whenever I feel like eating I reach for some fruits. For eg,today itself I ate a big bowl of watermelon,2plums and 2 peaches.Am I eating more?Sometimes I wonder whether it has any bad effect?please give me your suggestions

I read a lot of articles specially about papaya and all of them say that this is just common belief that it can cause a miscarriage. This was never scientifically proved and they believe in it only in India. Anyways, some of the articles do say that in pregnancy you shoudl avoid takin unripe papaya but ripe one is fine.

Hi Bindu,

One of my friends who has gestational diabetes told me that she is told to limit certain fruits. Fruits also has lot of sugar and carbohydrates! She takes fruits/fruit juices in limits only.

Fruits you can have are melon, mango, papaya(here in US they don't omit this-again remember 'in limit'), plum, grapes, apple, pear, cherries, grapefruit.

One fruit or 1/2 cup fruit juice a day is more than enough. You have to watch the limit if you are putting on more weight. Clarify with your doctor.

Best Wishes,
CK

I agree with CK's point.Overeating certian fruits increases your sugar levels. So watch for your sugar intake.
