I am completing 40 weeks today and have my doc's appt today. Till last week my cervix though soft was closed. My earlier labor was fast and my daughter was born 10 days before edd. My edd this time is 17th Sept.

I want you to tell me what will be the course of action if my cervix is still closed and I do not dilate by edd. I badly want a normal delivery. The baby movemets are abs. fine.

Is there any home remedy to hasten the dilation and labor?

Glad to see term is finished and you can bring baby any moment to this beautiful world.

Dilation is one difficult thing to estimate about.

However try following:
Get active on intercourse, will be difficult but will help dilating and also inducing labor as semen contains enough of prostaglandins, required to efface and dilate cervix.

Old wives tale suggest drinking Raspeberry leaf tea.

Continue walking. It's time to try climing some small stairs if you were not doing that.

In India many use Castor Oil to help dilating and inducing labor, naturally.

You can also have 2 spoon ghee in a cup of warm milk this will ease dilation.

the choice for post-date baby is usually depends on your Dr. You can wait as long as two more weeks, if your Dr. is ready for that. If both of you are eager to bring this baby to the world then he/she will advise you on admitting into hospital for induction and >95% cases ends up in vaginal birth, if you are below 40 years.
