Dear Poochy,
You know I was shattered when I first came to know I have GD. My parents dont have diabetes and I was taken aback. But slowly for the sake of the baby I have come to terms. My weight gain has not been great but my doc says its fine and the baby's growth is also fine so I am happy. At 36 wks I will have one u/s to chk baby's weight. I monitor my blood sugar 4 times a day fasting and 2 hrs after every meal. Generally my post lunch number is high so I walk on the treadmill after lunch for 30-45 min(speed-2, elevation-2) Even night after dinner I and my hubby go out on a stroll for 10 min, now the climate is also good to have a small walk.
Morning for breakfast I eat 4 slices whole wheat bread with 2 slices of cheese and peanut butter. (Cheese and peanut butter has more of protein)
Morning snack: Milk and one orange
Lunch: Chapathi(small-2)/subji or dal or I eat cracked wheat as rice and mix the subji, dal done and nutrela (10-12 pieces) (with salt, chilli powder, lime juice)
Evening snack: Apple with peanut butter
Dinner: Cracked wheat upma with lot of carrots, beans and peas
Night snack: Milk and nuts
Vegetables are free of carbs so u can eat cucumber, tomato etc in ur salad. It depends on how much carbs ur body can take. For me the above schedule has been fine.
My in-laws are bringing some baby stuff. My sis had a baby 6 months back so all those baby clothes. We need to buy stroller and car seat. The tussle for name is still going on hopefully even that we should decide by this month end. Oh God! there is so much to do, once when everything will be over we will have baby in our hands:)
Just dont worry be happy, eat in moderation, if u have any other questions I will be happy to tell u what I am doing, and anyday I feel I ate more I walk for 10 min on the treadmill and it makes a huge difference to the readings. I am waiting to eat all the good stuff.
Take Care,
Leo
