hey gals what is AFP .. lemme know too n when should it be done now 'm in the 6 week of pregnancy

AFP is a screening test for downs syndrome and spinal bifida-it is carried out around 16th week the nurse will draw some blood for testing they are ooking for a protien passed from the fetus to the womb-cant remeber exactly now. this protein detects th emarker they are looking for-there are many false positivees and the result cannot be just judgesd on a positive.
