Joint Family:Pls. help

I am a married woman since two years and have a baby. I had lost my father at a very early age and being emotional by nature, that incident made me hyper sensitive n short tempered. After marriage, I could feel much better because of my loving husband and good in-laws. But sometimes things dont go according to my wish and that makes me very upset. My m-i-l is otherwise a good person but a bit dominating and wants to know everything about us. Dont you think everybody deserves some privacy...some personal space? I dont want to sound complaining but would just like to know what should I do to unwind when I am upset. I am a very reserved kind of a person so I dont have many friends and also my child keeps me busy to go out somewhere. Could any body suggest some good things for me? Thanks a lot.

Hi,u have not given much detail about yourself...are you living with your inlaws? If so,then why don't u leave your child with them for a couple of hours for 1 or 2 times a week. You can join fitness classes, some kind of art and craft classes or something like that. This way you will have some 'me'time all to yourself, and you will be out of the house and meeting new people. You can say to your MIL,I really appreciate your help in this and I am sure 'your child's name' would like some undivided attention from his grandma. This way she too will feel special and important and you will get some time to your self. If you are not with your inlaw-s, you can either drop your child at their place or look for a creche near you. All the best!

Thanka a lot Sary for your help. I am going to join yoga classes soon.I stay with my in-laws. So I'll be leaving my baby with them for an hour during the classes. Thanks once again for giving me some of your precious time.

Should a single man live with his mum in India?
I am a man in my late 40s and I have lived abroad in USA for the past two decades. I never had any interest in marrying or having kids so I never married. Recently my Dad passed away and my mother will be alone. I have made enough money to retire comfortably but because I am used to the American lifestyle I can't live in India. Recently my relatives have started saying tha... - Venkat Dabri [View Message]
