For all you moms in 28th week and above,

Have your doctors advised you to keep count of your baby's kicks. How many kicks in an hour have they said. How seriously have you taken this. Just curious.

Hey Vindhya, I was given a kick count card at my last doc's visit and was asked to do the count from my 29th week on....
We have to choose a time when we think the baby is most active and count the kicks. 5 kicks within a half hour or 10 in an hour would be fine.

I am a bit worried about it (cause the baby seems to have active/inactive times and days)but was planning on doing it anyways from next week on.....

Simmi, I hope so too...I heard that as the baby gets bigger we will feel less movements and more kicks and hopefully our babies will kick more often (atleast 5 times in an hour, every day)...
Instead of picking a time in a day and keeping track of the counts, it sure would be better and less stressful if we start counting when we feel a movement and go from there....

Like you said, being positive always helps...so will try my best...

hi avi and vidhya. i haven't got a visit till 30 weeks and doc never advised regarding kick count. But ur tip sure is handy and i am hoping to follow it too. Like both of u, even I have unpredictable active in active times during the day and don't have movements every hr but i'm sure in time the movements will get regular as the baby gets less room inside to enjoy, maybe the baby wants to talk to us more often. just trying to be positive and hoping u r positive too.

You are right Vindhya, I am a paranoid person to start off with and this will drive me crazier.....
I was planning to start counting when the baby starts moving (hope we feel them atleast once a day for our sanity's sake)and then see if there are 5 movements in a half hour.....

I am sure, by the time you get to your 28/29 th week, you will start to feel them more often.....

Hi Avi,

I am a bit worried too, the baby doesn't seem to be very active. I think I'll go crazy over this counting thing. Hope everything will be fine with our not-so-active-all-the-time babies.
