Re : hetal you were right.
your dr has seen the severty so he knows when your baby will recover,,so go by that,,by 10 days, if he doesnt seem to recover,,check with your dr.
nothing to worry about,,often in thrush,,infections has to be stopped from both sides,,mother and child..as one will infect the other,,while bf.
apply creme as asked by your dr..before feeding if you still doubt, wipe off the nipples with clean wet washcloth,,so that even if cream stays off or is not absorbd by the skin,,it can be removed with the cloth.washcloth should be sterilsd and should be very clean,,100% cotton.after cleaning, apply some bm on the nipples,,as baby might refuse to latch on to dry nipples !
apply the creme in diapr area as directed by your dr. and also at the same time, let your baby remain without diaper..atleast for some 10-15mins after the application,,for speedy recovery.
if by 3-4days, the rashes still stays there,,call your dr and ask about it.it should go off by 4days,,as the cream is just right application..unless otherwise your baby rashes are because of some other reasons...
hydrocortisone, a corticosteroid is similar to a natural hormone prodcd by your adrenal gland.and this is used most commonly for babies, adults for curing all skin probs and other probs..
its safe to use on babies, only if its prescribed by your ped and not otherwise...the % decides the amt of chemical used to made creme.
please note, after this your baby has rashes or so,,please ask your dr before applying the same cream...the causes of rashes or eczema varies and so does the treatment ! so for all rashes,,applyng the same hydrocortizone cream might not be a proper treatment..
your dr has seen your baby physically and so i expect your baby to recover by that time...there are no other complication involved..unless otherwise your baby thrush goes really high..
however, the likeliness of thrust is on and off,,in cases where it has striked once,,and so it will be a normal case with your baby...
KEEP YOUR BABY MOUTH CLEAN ALWAYS to prevent thrush.before and after feeds, ask your wife to wipe off nipples and keep them clean.
ask your dr if the cream is to applied thru out bf session even after recovery..because some creams in market are for permanent application until mother weans off baby,,so that baby does not get into repeated infections/thrush...
thats all you can do to prevent..the current medication should prevent the severity to be a bit less than the current one,, in future,,however, it all depends on how well your baby hygn is maintained.
good luck,,
no worries, take care,,your baby is healthy baby,,so you should not be worried much !say my hello to neha !
