Due Date Club October 2006:Posterior baby-Question for Archie

Hello Archie hope you and your family are doing well.
I had my check up on Oct 4, 2006 and I am 38 weeks today. The Doc did an internal check and said that I had not begun to efface yet. Also, though I have always been carrying low, she said that the head of the baby is still high. When she tried to locate the heart beat she did locate it but said that the baby is in posterior position, baby back facing my back. I am also a case of GD and she has now put me on a diet. My sugar stays with the rane one week and the other it is not...so there is no consistency in that sense.
She has suggested a doppler next week and seems to be more inclined to do a c-sec.
I needed to know whether the analysis is alrite? I mean she said, not likely that a posterior baby can be delivered vaginally. Though she examined the pelvis and said that my pelvis was fine and compatible.

Little disheartening to hear on a c-sec after all the kegel and perinium massage. Is there anything I can do to change the situation?

Also, how is breast feeding affected after a c-sec/
Thanks a lot Archie...a little stressed out now.

Shraddha,
tought to deliver posterior baby vaginally but not impossible. Often such deliveries might lead to pelvic flood damage and post birth mother might experience urine incontinence more pronounced that vaginal birth of anterior occiput babies.

you can try to do cat walk, squattings, and seat in a position resembing like shivering or in squeezy accomodable couch. YOu can hope baby will turn anterior, Advait, my son was posterior on 39 weeks and 4th day but when on next day he was again anterior, both positions were confirmed by ultrasound. I had C-section but that's a different story.

your Drs. analysis is not incorrect.

breast feeding is not a concern after C-section however try to feed soon after dilivery no matter if the milk is there or not.
