Single Parenting:Exploring options to become single mother
2013-07-11
Name: Koel Chakrabarty

I am a single woman in my late thirties, well established in my corporate career. I am exploring options for becoming a mother, either by adoption or through IVF.

I am interested to know other women in this forum who have decided to go on similar path. I would like to interact individually and understand the social challenges and how to overcome them.

Hello KOEL
As your name even your thoughts are really sweet and you must be a good person too. I would like you to go for Adoption as by doing that you would save and help a child grow and give him/her a parental love.

Adopt a child and give a life an opportunity. There is no better happiness than serving. Every child is that of God’s. You never know what and how much God can give when we choose to serve.

The choice is yours. IVF is quite costly but that feeling of having our own blood and DNA is lot better than raising an unknown. I am not condemning adoption but I feel IVF though costly is better option.

Hello KOEL
Both options are feasible. IVF can give you sense of own child will adoption will help your conscience as you are providing the opportunity for a soul. May be the child you adopt turn out to become a great personality.

Hi Koel Chakrabarty
IVF is a high tech process and it has been found that babies born through IVF are at greater risk of rare combination of birth defects. As the process is done in laboratory, error is bound to happen.

Adoption would be a better option. There are many orphan children and adopting a one will help you in saving a soul. The change will be better for both, the child and the parent involved.

What ever you decide your own people will always be with you i think. so adoption make a one life better and here it will make 2 lives. all the best..
Hi koel, since you are in late thirties try for like minded people who can understand and able to accept you as you are. IVF and adoption would be a tedious task for u. Think properly and visit a doctor asap.

My advise to you is get married and have kids and lead a happy family.
Adoption will take more time...you can opt for IVF.
the decision is good but you will have to take a lot of trouble for adopting a child as there are is a huge waiting list with adoption. You may go for IVF but in Indian society, I don' t know how will you face the whole situation...best of luck. If you are residing abroad than try IVF its the best option than adopting a baby
