Due Date Club September 2004:uregent about doctor

Hi Gals,
I got a question for you. Whoever I talk to, does not have very good advice about my doctor that she is not too good, I have heard it from couple diffrent people. Today One person told me that she always goes for C section.

I have not been liking her attitude for sometime and told my husband couple of times but he said she seems fine and confident. Well the probems I had with her when i used to vomit, she said its all in your mind and since you are throwing up mostly in evenings, it is not pregancy related otherwise it wud have been morning sickness!! I ignored this one because she really can not do much and I also didn't want to take medications.

She seems very careless at times. In my last appt, I gained 6 pounds in 2 weeks, ( the very first time it happened otherwise I was gaining 1 pound each week and didn't gain any weight until 18 weeks ) She said conflicting things that if your baby becomes too big, I will just come and do c-section and then you will be at loss. At the same time, she says you are gaining more than your baby. I asked her specially how does baby look? she said avg size baby btwn 6 and 7 pounds which got confirmed from ultrasound also.

I was fine with everything as I didn;t really want to change doctor until today when I heard that she goes for C-section always. what do you guys think? Should I change my doctor at this time? There are couple other ones which are good and people have suggested their names. Please let me know. I am 36 weeks and 2 days and tomorrow I have an appt.

Dear Sweetie,
If possible you can go and change Dr. better late than sorry.
Looks like you don't trust your Dr. and she seems to ignore much.
I was surprised to read on Morning sickness and the range of baby weight.
If you live in US then normal size baby can be between 6 to 9 pounds.

I have colleague who delivered vaginally all her three babies, ranging 10 to 11 pounds, she is skinny and was skinny during her all pregnancies.

To do C-section or not depends on complication identified in the labor room and not just based on the size of baby. Of course if you are skinny and baby is over 9 pounds your Dr. may want to do C-section but not with 7 pounds baby.

Looks difficult to find substitute Dr. at this stage, you should have changed earlier. But as said better late than sorry. If you are not happy then try to have Dr. changed.

Good luck.
Archie

Archie, I decided o meet another doctor and see how it goes. Then I will make the decision next week whether to change or not. If I feel comfortable with new doctor, then most likely I will change. Thanks again.
Hope you and baby are doing well and you are enjoying the special status of being a mother.
