our gyn consultant told us to do triple test for rule out down syndrome after doing ultra sound ..i m scared ... any body under went triple test pls share u r experiance...

hi,
i too was told today to get the triple test done at around 16th weeek.haad an appt today witrh the doc she said everything is fine but still i should go through triple test.she said its not compulsary as there is only 1 in 750 pregnancies which turn out to have down syndrome.its our choice but its always safe to get it done.nothing to woory about its just a blood test .dont feel that your doc saw something wrong in the ultra sound that she suggested u to get the test done its a routine thing.

I did not know a test like that existed. After reading a little about it, it does not look like there are any side effects and you might feel better once you know that the test came up negative hopefully.

BTW I found a very nice article with everything you would want to know about triple test on americanpregnancy.

Hi,

Its just a blood test.
It is used to diagnose any abnormaily in fetus .Its normally done around 16 week .Mainly down syndrome can be diagnosed using this test with some additional genetic disorders.

In my first pregnancy i went through this test and luckily it was negative.

I have Plannned to go for this test.

i haven' t done it but i heard about it. it is similar to ultrasound but much more clear. u will actully see the baby than just a figure. one of my friend did it. there is a fee for it.
they can even show u the gender very clearly than ultrasound. it is done around 20week.
