Routine Tests:Gestataional Diabetes

Hi, I am new to this forum. While searching information for GDM I came across this and registered. I am 16 week pregnant. Really not good to say that I am overweight. I am consulting Dr. Gayatri Kamat and everything was quite normal in first three months. But during 4th month of consultation my doc suspected me with GDM. After having 4 hours of GTT I have been found positive with GDM. So early to detect Gestational Diabetes, I am really worried and feel guilt of not giving good condition for my Baby. However after reading through lots of Documents over net I found this is common problem during pregnancy. Now my doc has referred me to Dr.Ganapathy of Mally Clinic Jaynagar, Bangalore. I am worried whether Dr.Ganapthy gives me a simple diet treatment or more medicines. Can anyone had the same problem of Gestational Diabetes, is that too early for me to say am detected with Gestational Diabetes?

Hi Varsha,

Nothing to worry. Its good that it was detected very earlier. As doctor said everything was normal during first 3 months that means ,most of the organs will be developed during this period. So from now if you maintain a proper diet and docot definetly prescribes Insulin,as other medicines may effect.Best to have insulin and check your glucose levels every day.Buy on Glucometer and you can test ealiy at home.Diet is very important-dont have T /coffee with sugar, avoid sweets ,fruits very little intake.Dont worry your baby health is very important,he will not ask you the tasty food..ahve lots of vegetables and curds.milk.I am having diabetis from 2 years ,plnning to conceive.I am on verys trcit diet. One mroe tip avoid salt intake..It will improves very good glucose level.
Take care Bye.
