Dear Hetal,
I have a question abt my 6 month old. He loves to be on his tummy and play. His heady is very steady since 3 months and he can hold it high while on tummy. He did not rollover yet, but can sit unsupported for long time. My question is is it OK that he still did not rollover but started sitting? Can babies skip the rollover phase??. I was a bit worried abt this..

Thanks,
Ritu

head steady at 3months, sitting unsupported for long time at 6months and that he can hold his head high while on tummy all are signs of good growth as well strong bone and muscle coordnation.
unless otherwise he has shown ne kind of discomfort, cries while trying to roll over..
many babies on heavier side didnt roll over and had their sitting milestone earlier,,because being heavy, they cant lift themselves or flip themselves,,but at the same time,,their back bones,, were strong enough to hold their head upright and make them sit,,,,which in itself is a good sign.

some even when they were not heavy, figured out an easy way to excel further, dpending on how their body felt comfortable in moving ahead...,,some babies never liked tummy time,,but they were perfectly fine with health without ne stomach discomforts...

at your well child checkup talk about this before your starts the well child checkup,,so that he can check the reflexes on hand, shoulders,,just to make sure that he is doing ok,,

othrwise,,yes many babies like mine,,have either skipped this phase or never liked tummy time,,but they learned themselves once they started crawling ! as it is,,when they crawl,,they have to roll or flip themselves,,in order to master their mobility, control and balance over their body,,...
and it MIGHT HAPPEN, that your baby might even skip the crawling and right away start standing,,as far as his main developments are ok :head steady,,sitting,standing,walking,babbling..he is doing good...
things like rolliing over,,crawling,,no teeth by 1 year,,are genrally the things that are not to be worried about,,because babies often skip these and they excel pretty much well later on in the same skills,,whenver need arise.

Yes, my baby is on the heavier side. He is 98 percentile for his weight and 95 for his height. Thanks for your reply. I feel much better now.

Thanks,
Ritu
