Hi Hetal & other moms,

I am a mother of 5 month old baby. Planning to go back to work when he completes 6 months. My son is very much attached to me. I have a daycare at work. planning to leave him there.
To get him adjusted to daycare, how do prepare him. I have two options. one is leaving him at a daycare in my apartment complex for this month. or managing with a maid so that he will become social and start minging with people. daycare at work, we have to start with an hour and gradually increase to full day. currently he stays for an hour or two with out seeing me around.

thanks

Any help in this regard is

like you said, he stays an hour or two without seeing you around,,great,,,just addin extra 30mins and see how he goes...
leaving with daycare is better than maid, if the daycare is licensed,,,and if the maid is certified,,thn leaving your child with maid is better idea,,,mostly because certified maid knows what child needs and will teach your baby all he needs to learns,,it all includes the travelling or walks in parks or even taking him to children area wherre there are lots of kids....
upto you,,go by whatever suits your budget and timings..i would personally prefer daycare at work,,atleast he would near at my reach without travel !

I have recently gone thru the experience of putting my daughter in a day care at 6 months. I took a week to settle her in and gradually increased her hours. Kids are happy with other kids so not too much to worry on that account. You should be concerned that your child feeds OK and does not catch too many infections or gets sick. Colds will be a common occurrence when it is the flu season but don't worry about them. My daughter also grew up with her grandmother being around for 6 months but got used to the daycare pretty quick. don't worry too much. Encourage your baby to play with toys independently, Take him to friends homes where he can be around other kids, let other people hold him...all this helps.

hello jayashree
dont get afraid and dont loose hopes, your son is absolutely fine, and give him the proper tuition and avoid more playing periods of his, and you should teach him at home when you will get free time.... - praglabh [View Message]
