Do you think there needs to be more emphasis on classical music appreciation in children? Do you think that listening to composers like Mozart has some effect on improving a person' s mental faculties?

I too have read about pregnant women who listen to classical music. However, what about cases where people listen to music and are then induced to commit crimes? Or music which is supposed to induce dememntia? Is this a scientific fact?

I never thought that music could have the line of argument that you would have for guns, drugs and smokes. Personally Ive never heard about these claims and have only heard that music is soothing for the soul. The question is what is music for one person is noise for the other. Classical western music is no exception

Is it true that if a pregnant woman listens to classical music, then her baby will be more intelligent? I have read this somewhere and I wanted to know if it is true.

I am a graduate student studying western classical music and I am also a fan of Indian classical music. First you should know that the article you responded to is misleading and inacurate. If you are interested in learning about Western classical music I can make some recomendations. There are so many different types of Western classical music it´ s difficult to know where to begin. To answer you question, there are many similarities and differences between Westerna and Indian classical traditions but perhaps the two most significant differences are that much of Western classical music is built around harmony and not melody and (although not always) it is less rhthmically complex.

Radhika-How would you know you´ re tone deaf to western classical if you never heard it? Your question about the differences is ignorant and highlights your stupidity greatly.

Sanju- Opera is not considered classical music, nor is it similar in anyway. It is a genre all of its own. I thank you howevere for your idiotic comment. I needed a good laugh

Hey, that is insulting. What kind of a vitriolic attack is that. If you don´ t understand it just admit it. Pulling others down will not make you great.

Listen to opera singing, typical case of western classical music. And once you have heard that you will not want to listen to anything more.

Like wine, the concept of western classical music has gotten better and more complex over the ages. It has incorporated many facets on the way..
