Parents can hinder their child's development if they do not raise their kids with proper values or rules. To raise a healthy and well balanced individual, it is necessary that parents set some rules. rules help in instilling discipline and children then value time and other factors. But if these rules are followed too strictly, then it leads to a problem. Being too strict makes children feel that they do not have freedom so they resort to telling lies which is not a good habit.
It is important to relax the rules sometimes so that child feels at ease. Children also tend to follow the parents so if parents are not following something which they preach, then it creates a bad impression on the child.

Comparing kids is the worst thing that a parent does and is one of the biggest parenting mistakes. It leads to low confidence and low self esteem. They are full of doubts and cannot seem to do anything on their own. They lose interest.

Parents being busy fail to give time to their kids and this also leads to bottled up emotions and the kids drifting away. This creates a communication gap which is then difficult to overcome. when parents discuss everything with their kids, then they are able to understand the problem and thus able to solve it before the situation goes out of control.
