 Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I am expecting. I am in my 19th week, and due in July. My doctor says my AFP results are positive. What does this mean?

Payal (Atlanta, USA)

A: Do you mean that the levels are out of the normal range? If so, you have a high chance of having a baby with either Downs' Syndrome or a spinal defect. A sonography, blood test and amniocentesis will confirm the diagnosis.
